Established in 1926, is one of the oldest
voluntary non-profit making organisation formed with the object of educating and updating
its members on the Direct Tax Laws. It has a robust membership strength of about 2500
professionals, comprising of Chartered Accountants, Advocates and Tax Practitioners.
The CITC regularly organises Workshops, Seminars, Lecture
Meetings, Study Circle Meetings, Study Group Meetings, Education Courses, Outstation
Conferences, etc. for the benefit of member professionals. It also organises many seminars
on topics of general public interest. The background material handed out to the
participants at these seminars, conferences and workshops is painstakingly prepared and is
well researched and detailed.

Tax Review consists of Special Issues covering in-depth analysis on topics of
professional interest. These special issues have found a permanent place in libraries of
leading tax professionals.
CITC functions through various sub-committees
comprising of about 110 core group members and maintains excellent rapport with the Tax
Department and Government officials. Eminent professionals and senior retired tax
department officials contribute their might in ensuring that the CITC achieves its goals.
CITC is active in filing public interest litigation,
presenting pre and post-budget memoranda and making representations to the Government and
various Departments including the regulatory authorities. Administrative issues are also
taken up with the respective Departments. In the recent years, the CITC has acted as a
catalyst and has contributed substantially to the development of better tax laws and
administration.
CITC manages two libraries at prominent
places like Aayakar Bhavan and Pratyakshakar Bhavan which are widely used by the
professionals. These libraries have more than 4000 titles and all leading law journals and
magazines.
The members of the CITC enjoy a unique bond of fellowship
and brotherhood which is evident in all its activities and programmes. Its monthly
Newsletter, CITC NEWS, keeps members updated on various
events.
The functioning at the CITC is adequately automated and its
