Through this column, we communicate with you about, and keep you abreast with, the events and the happenings that take place at the CTC.   1. Full Day Seminar on “Fringe Benefit Tax – Legal & Audit Aspects”

The Direct Taxes Committee jointly with Bombay Chartered Accountants’ Society had organised a Full Day Seminar on "Fringe Benefit Tax – Legal & Audit Aspects" on September 9, 2006 where CA. Kishor Karia, CA. Padamchand Khincha, CA. Jayesh Gandhi addressed the delegates. CA. P. N. Shah and Shri S. N. Inamdar, Advocate were the Brain Trustees for the seminar. The seminar was attended by around 275 participants.

  1. Indirect Taxes Study Circle Meeting

Indirect Study Circle Meeting was held on September 12, 2006 at IMC, where CA. A. R. Krishnan, chaired the meeting and Shri Sunil M. Lala, Advocate, led the discussion on the subject, "Import & Export of Services under Service Tax". The meeting was very well attended.

  1. Half day Seminar on Tax Audit

The Direct Taxes Committee along with Study Circle & Study Group Committee organised a Half Day Seminar on "Tax Audit" on Thursday, September 21, 2006 where CA Arvind H. Dalal and CA. Narayan Varma chaired the sessions and CA. Mahesh P. Sarda and CA. Atul T. Suraiya addressed the delegates. The meeting received an overwhelming response from the participants.

  1. Study Group Meeting

The fifth Study Group Meeting for the year 2006-07 was held on Monday, September 25, 2006, where Shri V. H. Patil, Advocate, discussed the Recent Case Laws. The meeting was very well attended.

  1. Seminar on “Co-operative Housing Societies”

The Allied Laws Committee and Direct Taxes Committee jointly with All India Federation of Tax Practitioners (Western Zone), Bombay Chartered Accountants Society, the Sales Tax Practitioners Association of Maharashtra and WIRC of Institute of Chartered Accountants’ of India have organised a full day seminar on "Co-operative Housing Societies" on Saturday, November 11, 2006.   1. Orientation Course on “International Taxation”

The Study Circle & Study Group Committee has proposed to conduct an Orientation Course on "International Taxation" which begins from November, 2006. It is also proposed to convert it into a regular Study Circle Meeting on International Taxation. The Committee has invited members to enrol for the Course.   1. Seminar on "Assessment Proceedings – Legal or Practical Aspects"

The Education Committee and Direct Taxes Committee jointly with CVO Chartered & Cost Accountants’ Association organised Seminar on "Assessment Proceedings – Legal or Practical Aspects" on Saturday, November 18, 2006. For details please refer announcement on Page No. 148.
