Dear Members,
Of late, the Chamber has been looked upon to
take up more pro-active role in the matter of spreading
education and representation. As a part of taking up this new
challenge, the Chamber had constituted Research Committee, under
able leadership of our past President Shri S. N. Inamdar. The
committee has taken up a very important Research Project on the
aspect of search and seizure, on which there is not much
research so far. As a part of this project, the Committee has
prepared the detailed and exhaustive questionnaire to get
feedback from all members on important aspects of "raid". I
request all the members to be part of this project and send the
Questionnaire back, which has been printed in this issue.
About sixteen years ago, it was felt that
despite the several programmes conducted by the Chamber, there
was no specific programme, which caters to the needs of fresh
professionals and those who are on the verge of entering the
profession. It was under these circumstances that the idea of
Education Course was conceived. The first Education Course was
conducted in the year 1989. The Education Course primarily gives
the participants a bird’s eye view of the important aspects of
the Direct & Indirect Tax Laws spread over five consecutive
Saturdays in the month of June & July. From the inception
itself, the Education course evoked tremendous response from the
young professionals, articled trainees and office assistants. I
request the members and their trainees to take full advantage of
this annual course.
The seminar on VAT organised along with AIFTP
(WZ) and The Malad Chamber of Tax Consultants on 30th April,
2005 was very well attended with over 640 participants. The
learned faculties Shri P. C. Joshi, Smt. Nikita Badheka, Smt.
Bhavna Doshi, Shri C. B. Thakar, Shri J. V. Chhabria and Shri T.
M. Chhatpar covered various provisions of VAT in a masterly
manner.
With a view to, spreading education,
developing relationship and for conveying message of the CITC,
the Membership & Public Relation Committee has organised a full
day seminar on ‘Taxation’ at Valsad on 5th June, 2005 along with
Tax Forum Valsad.
The Journal Committee has spared no efforts
in coming out with this special story on ‘Model Deeds’, really a
memorable issue. I am sure that this issue on ‘Model Deeds’
along with last month’s issue on ‘Model Application & Petitions’
will occupy a place of pride in the library of professionals in
times to come.
As usual most of our members will be on
holiday in the month of May. However June month will be full of
educational activities. Your enthusiasm and support is the
propelling force, which enables us to organise various events of
professional interest. I look forward to the rest of my term
being as eventful as the beginning.
With regards.
