From the President
The March continues…
This is my last communication
to you, my dear CTC Family members, as President of the Chamber. While penning
down my last President’s Message, I am overwhelmed by varied feelings.
Predominantly, there is a feeling of joy of having been able to communicate to
you, through this privilege, every month. It was, indeed, a pleasure to so
communicate; though in the form of monologue. I just had to put down whatever I
felt like communicating. And you had to endure that. But, to my surprise, I
received quite few encouraging responses. It is difficult to believe that one
year has passed by. However, as they say, the march continues.
In my first President’s
Message, reproduced in July 2006 issue of Income Tax Review, I had highlighted
my thoughts and my plans for the year. I had refrained from giving lofty
promises and present glorified picture, to start with. This was because I
intended to concentrate on strengthening and refurbishing the foundation of the
Chamber, to support future growth and expansion. Due to the very nature of the
things, it was fully realised that the process was going to be gradual and, in
any case, it was not possible to finish the task in one year. The idea was to
revaluate the entire strategy and to take new initiatives. Though quite a few
initiatives have been taken during the year, I must confess, much more could
have been done given the tremendous scope available with the Chamber. However,
it will give me immense sense of satisfaction if even the initiatives so taken
during the year are successfully implemented and the desired results are
achieved. And I have no doubt about the inherent capacity available with
Chamber. In fact, the Chamber is now poised to achieve newer heights.
However, the change of guard at
the Chamber does not mean that the activities of the Chamber come to halt.
Various committees have planned and executed many activities during last month.
The first Residential Course on International Taxation, held at Karjat in the
third week of June, evoked overwhelming response and we had to close the
enrolment. It was, indeed, a matter of pride that senior members of ITAT,
Mumbai, decided to grace the Course for all the three days. Even the Half day
Seminar on New Returns saw record enrolment. Members from far of places attended
the seminar. These show that the Chamber has huge potential to tap and exploit.
I am sure that in times to come, the Chamber can definitely serve as a role
model as an institution with very high standard of excellence.
I thank all CTC members as well
as others for taking active interest in the activities of the Chamber and
helping the Chamber, in their own small ways, to grow. I am sure that the
Chamber will have the benefit of their continued interest and involvement.
I would like to end my message
with a simple quote:
“When you share yourself with
others, life begins to find its meaning. The time you touch the hearts of others
is the moment you truly start living.”
I wish everybody:
A relaxed mind, peaceful soul,
joyful spirit, healthy body, loving heart and answered prayers.
Good Bye!
Vipul Joshi
