2. Past Events

1. Direct Tax Committee

The Direct Tax Committee organized its first Residential Course on International Taxation at a lush green venue, nestled in nature at Karjat, AyurLife Health Village, on 22nd June to 24th June, 2007. The Paper writers were Shri Naresh Ajwani, CA. Shri Radhakishan Rawal, Ms. Bijal Ajinkya, Advocate, Mr. Uday Ved, CA. Faculties Shri Sushil Lakhani,CA. Shri T.P.Ostwal,CA. spoke on the subject. The response was very good for the Course.

2. Direct Tax Committee

Direct Tax Committee had organized Half Day Seminar on Amendments to Provisions Applicable to Assessment year 2007-08 with special reference to Provisions Relating to Filing of Returns & Discussion on New Return Forms on 30th June, 2007 at M.C. Ghia Hall, 18/20, K. Dubhash Marg, Rampart Row, Fort, Mumbai – 400 023. Shri Gautam S. Nayak, CA. & Chairman, Speaker Shri Mahendra Sanghvi, CA. spoke on New Return Forms. The seminar had to be curtailed due to heavy rains with the other part to be covered at a later date.

3. Indirect Tax Committee

Indirect Tax Committee had organized a lecture meeting on Works Contract – whether Service Tax or VAT, at CTC Conference Hall, 3,Rewa Chambers, 31, New Marine lines, Mumbai – 400 020 on 19th June, 2007. Shri Janak Vaghani, CA spoke on the subject. The response was very good for the meeting.

4. Allied Laws Committee

Allied Laws Committee had organized a Full Day Seminar on Laws Relating to Partnership Firms on 23rd June, 2007 at M.C. Ghia Hall, 18/20, K. Dubhash Marg, Kala Ghoda, Mumbai–400 023. Speakers Shri Kirit Mehta, Advocate & Solicitor, Shri J.S.Soloman, Advocate & Solicitor, Shri B. V. Jhaveri, Advocate and Shri Uday Sathye, CA spoke on the different topics. The seminar was well attended.

5. Allied Laws Committee

Allied Laws Committee had organized Workshop on “Property & You” jointly with BCA Society on 29th June, 2007 & 5th July, 2007 at Gulmohar, BCA Society, 7, Jolly Bhavan No.2, New Marine Lines, Mumbai-400 020. Shri Parimal Shroff, Advocate & Solicitor, Shri Mahesh Shah, Advocate & Solicitor, Shri Vipul Joshi, Advocate, Shri Anup P. Shah, CA. spoke on the subject. The workshop evoked good response from the members.

6. Study Circle & Study Group Committee

1. Study Circle & Study Group Committee had organized a study group meeting on Recent Case laws. The Speaker Shri K. Gopal, Advocate. Spoke on the subject at Babubhai Chinai Committee Room, IMC, Churchgate, Mumbai on 11th June, 2007. The meeting was well attended.

Direct Tax Committee had organized Half day seminar on provisions applicable to assessment year 2007-08 with special reference to provisions relating to filing of returns & discussion on new returns, is rescheduled which was originally fixed on 30.06.07 and had to be postponed on 10th July, 2007 at M. C. Ghia Hall, 18/20, K. Dubhash Marg, Rampart Row, Fort, Mumbai – 400 023.

2. Allied Laws Committee

Allied Laws Committee has organized the next two sessions of the Workshop on “Property & You” jointly with BCA Society on 13th July & 20th July, 2007 at Gulmohar, BCA Society, New Marine Lines, Mumbai – 400 020. For further details please refer July 2007 CITC NEWS.

3. Study Circle & Study Group Committee

1. Orientation Course on International Taxation

Study Circle & Study Group Committee has organized Orientation Course on International Taxation on Articles 4 – Residence under Treaty Law on 11th July, 2007 at CTC Conference Room, 3, Rewa Chambers,Ground Floor, 31, New Marine Lines, Mumbai – 400 020.
