From the President
Dear Members,
27th August 2004 was the day you bestowed upon me the honour of leading this prestigious organisation to which we all lovingly refer as Chamber. The time has come for me to say good-bye to all of you as the President of the CITC. The year that has gone by has left wonderful memories, about people and about events, which I shall cherish for a long time to come.
While one is bestowed with the honour to lead the Chamber, one is also saddled with the responsibility to administer the affairs of the Chamber and to direct its activities. Administering an organisation with a wide range of activities at best of the times is daunting task. Nonetheless it is only due to experienced and devoted persons who render valuable services year after year that the Chamber during the year has been able to conduct all its activities smoothly and with great success. Chamber is indeed fortunate to have large resources of such persons with administrative capabilities and firm belief in professional welfare. I am thankful to each one of them including the office bearers specially Shri Sujal Shah, Members of the Managing Council, Past Presidents, Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, and the Convenors of all Committees for their invaluable help, unstinting support and guidance.
The office staff of the Chamber worked very hard. My thanks to entire office staff for their total commitment and help throughout the year. The administrative support provided by them has certainly reduced significantly burden on the Convenors.
I am thankful to my parents, my wife Aarti, my children Vidisha and Shashank, who have helped me in my performance and encouraged me to realize the best, for their continuous support and unflinching faith which elevated me to discharge a pious public function.
I am handing over the august-office of the President of the Chamber to Shri Akbarally Merchant who is very devoted and an experienced member of the Chamber. I am sure, with his leadership, the Chamber will become increasingly vibrant and will scale to new heights.
Presidents will come and presidents will go, but this noble institution will remain forever to meet the needs and aspirations of the tax professionals. Therefore, while leaving my office, I salute the Chamber for which I hold special fascination and to which I have developed great affinity.
LET HEAVEN INDEED BE OUR GUIDE.
With Regards.
AJIT N. ROHIRA
President
