Dear Members,
From last seven months I have been talking to
you through this page on issues relating to the professional
Interest and various activities of the Chamber. This time I
would like to divert myself and share with you philosophy of my
favourite line.
"TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY"
By keeping this line in mind, it gives us
hope in a whatever difficult situation we are. Tomorrow would
bring perhaps a solution or may be simply another perception of
the situation, we are in. We should remind ourselves that things
always get better eventually.
Anything can change tomorrow, or even today,
or even this moment. We simply have to keep the door open to the
possibility of change – keep our mind and heart open to looking
for a next step, a resolution of our dilemma. When we give up,
or when we think it’s all hopeless, we stop looking for
solutions and we stop being open to the miracles that the
Universe can send our way.
There are many things that we see when we
look around us – whether in our household, in our work
situation, in the world – that are ‘far from perfect’. But,
everything that exists today can be different tomorrow, or the
day after that. The important thing for us to remember is that
there is hope.
Nothing in our life, no matter how terrible
it seems, is hopeless. Whether later today or tomorrow, we still
will have opportunities to ‘make it better’. Whether we are
dealing with relationships, work situations, or world crisis –
it can all change. Nothing is ever always the same – things are
in a constant process of change, and when we are setting our
intentions properly, the change is towards the betterment of our
life situation.
I believe if this line is kept in mind, it
will work wonders in our life.
The Chamber along with BCAS and WIRC of ICAI
was invited by Chief Commissioner of Income Tax Mumbai, to give
suggestions on concept paper being prepared by Chief
Commissioners regarding existing facilities given by the
Department to small and medium tax-payers and their problems and
expectations from the Department. Under the guidance of Shri
Narayan Varma a detailed note was prepared and presented to
Department.
Continuous efforts are being made to
strengthen the relationship with members and also to develop new
members. In this direction a get-together was organised on 8th
April, 2005 for new members, so that they get acquainted with
the activities of the Chamber and also to know their views and
expectations from Chamber. The various suggestions given by them
will be duly considered in due course.
VAT (Value Added Tax) legislation has been
introduced from 1st April, 2005, though some states have opposed
its implementation. To understand these new provisions we have
organised a seminar on VAT on 30th April, 2005. The details of
which will be sent to you shortly.
Three Chief Commissioners from Mumbai have
been recently elevated to the position of member CBDT i.e. Mr.
Shibaji Dash, Ms. M. H. Kherawala and Mr. Sudhakar Mishra. On
behalf of Chamber I congratulate and convey my best wishes to
them.
This special story gives draft of various
Model Applications and Petitions which will be very useful to
Tax Practitioners for their day-to-day practice. I acknowledge
sincere efforts put by Journal Committee and all the learned
authors for their contribution which will benefit our profession
at large.
Permit me to share here Franklin D. Roosevelt
views on Civilization.
If Civilization is to survive,
we must cultivate the science of human
relationships,
the ability of all peoples,
of all kinds,
to live together,
in the same world at peace.
