From the President

Let me first wish all our members a Peaceful, Powerpacked and Prosperous New Year, "Samvat 2064".

You must be back to work rejuvenated, refreshed and of course with new resolutions for the ensuing year. Many give up their resolutions before they become true and others on getting them true. I am sure that our members "go beyond" even after getting them true to satisfy their never ending quest for excellence.

At Chamber, educational activities are in full swing. Landmark of each activity becomes the benchmark for subsequent activities and the journey continues. We enjoy and cherish this journey, as the institution like Chamber is designed for its continuity.

One should lead the change and not to be led by change. The special efforts have been made to be receptive to change and to be able to change, by striking a balance between "Change" and Continuity". Based on wealth of values and wisdom, the Chamber is marching ahead as a "change leader".

Various programmes have been announced in the last CITC News, which, I am sure you had an opportunity to go through. Most awaited Residential Refresher Course (RRC) is going to be held at Mount Abu, a hill station in the Aravali ranges of Rajasthan. A Full day Seminar on "Shares & Securities" has been organized in the month of December keeping in view the current undercurrents in Capital Market.

Education is always a delight at Chamber and to equip our members, a "Orientation Course" has been organized on "Service Tax "encompassing Law & Procedural Aspects of Service Tax and analysis of some important "services". To reduce the training pressures, a programme has also been organized for juniors and Articles clerks (CPT) to groom them young and make them ready to work for you. Study Circle meetings and Study Group meetings are as usual going at a desired pace.

Pre-budget Memorandum containing general and specific suggestions for improvement in Direct Tax Laws has already been forwarded to Finance Ministry for their consideration.

Meanwhile, when mild winter is setting in, I wish you calmness; not only in words and actions but also in your thoughts.

Bhavesh Vora
President
