II. Past Events
A) Study Circle Meeting:
The Study Circle Meeting was held on February 28, 2008 on
the subject: issues in Survey Proceedings under Income-tax Act:". The meeting
was lead by CA Dinesh R Shah.
B) Study Group Meeting:
The meeting was held on February 26, 2008 on the subject
Recent Judgments under Direct Taxes’. Shri K.Gopal, Advocate discussed the
case laws.
C) Lecture Meeting on Union Budget:
A Public Meeting on Union Budget jointly with Ghatkopar
Study Circle-WIRC, Forum of Free Enterprises and other organizations was held
on March 2, 2008 at Ghatkopar. CA Sunil Kapadia and CA Dinesh Kanabar
addressed the members on Taxation and Economic Aspect of the Budget. The
meeting was well attended.
D) Half Day Workshop on Finance Bill-2008:
Direct Taxes Committee jointly with WIRC of ICAI organized
a Workshop on Finance Bill-2008 on March 8, 2008. The workshop was addressed
by CA Kishor Karia and Shri Saurabh Soparkar, Advocate. The Workshop was well
attended by the members.
E) Orientation Course on International Taxation:
The meeting was held on February 18, 2008 on the subject
"Article7- Business Profits with examples and Case Studies" The discussion was
led by CA Vishal Gada.
F) Seminar on Mergers & Acquisitions
The Corporate Committee organized 1 ½ Day Seminar on
"Mergers & Acquisitions" on February 22nd and 23rd, 2008. The Seminar was
inaugurated by Shri R.A. Shah, Senior Partner, Crawford Bailey & Co,
Solicitors and Advocates The eminent speakers from various firms addressed the
delegates. More than 140 delegates from Corporate attended the Seminar and
made the event successfully.
