From the President
Dear Members,
On one hand, when the heat of
Finance Bill 2008 is getting settled, the newspaper on the other hand reports
……. “Inflation hits 3 years high of 7% “, prices of cement, steel, fuel, gold
and other commodities are on rise from September 2007. Prices are increasing,
needs are increasing and desires are also increasing. This makes the life more
stressful, competitive and comparative. The rising inflation has overshadowed
the Populist’s Budget. U.S. sub prime crises and recession at U.S. is affecting
global economic environment. Indian capital market is also demonstrating the
weaker picture. Economy in our country may witness a consolidation phase in the
year 2008-09 due to rising inflation. I am sure that appropriate monetary and
fiscal measures will be initiated, if not to correct in totality, but to
mitigate the effects of inflation.
In such an era when economy is
going towards a consolidation phase, professional have pivotal role to play.
Opportunities may not come automatically, one will need to deserve it.
Opportunity knocks the door only when you are ready (worthy) to welcome it. With
the beginning of new financial year, all of us will have to prepare our time and
performance budget and see where it fits in changing economic and profession
scenario.
Chamber is busy in imparting
education and you all must be taking the benefits of same. Post budget
memorandum has already been sent to Ministry of Finance for their consideration.
Programmes on Indirect tax, SEZ, Section 14A, Study circles, Study group
meetings and of course second RRC on international taxation, all have been
planned for benefit of members. CTC chapter at Delhi is also taking good shape.
The full day programme on TDS at Delhi jointly with PHD chamber at Delhi had a
wonderful response.
Let me also congratulate our
past President and senior advocate respected Shri Y.P. Trivedi who has been
elected to the Rajya Shabha. We are indeed proud of this. This is the testimony
of Chamber possessing invaluable treasure of intellectual capital. We wish him
all the good luck in his endeavour. Till next issue, Good Bye.

to elevate his life by conscious endeavour”
